Our client is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic 1st Line IT Support Technician to join their growing IT team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in IT within a supportive environment where training, learning, and progression are actively encouraged.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line technical support across a range of IT services, troubleshooting and resolving user issues.
  • Log, prioritise, and manage support requests through the IT ticketing system.
  • Escalate complex technical issues to senior IT team members when required.
  • Build, configure, repair, and deploy IT equipment including desktops, laptops, and mobile devices.
  • Install, maintain, and update operating systems and software applications.
  • Support Microsoft 365, Active Directory, endpoint management, remote access technologies, and basic networking environments.
  • Manage user accounts, passwords, access permissions, MFA, onboarding, and offboarding activities.
  • Maintain internal documentation and knowledge base articles.
  • Assist with identifying opportunities to improve systems and processes.
  • Build positive working relationships with users at all levels of technical ability.
  • Participate in occasional Saturday morning support cover and out-of-hours work when required.
  • Travel to multiple sites across the UK as necessary.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Degree in IT or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Active Directory.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Awareness of cybersecurity best practices.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Genuine interest in technology and willingness to learn.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience using IT ticketing systems and remote support tools.
  • Knowledge of hardware deployment and network cabling.
  • Understanding of backup and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Basic Linux operating system knowledge.
  • Exposure to cloud-based technologies.
  • Familiarity with virtualisation platforms such as VMware.
  • Previous experience within the automotive sector.
