The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the engineering and maintenance function within a busy manufacturing environment. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring machinery reliability, driving operational efficiency, delivering engineering projects, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
Reporting into senior leadership, you will play a crucial role in shaping engineering strategy, improving production performance, and developing a high-performing engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop the engineering and maintenance team.
- Act as the escalation point for engineering and technical issues.
- Ensure maximum equipment uptime and operational efficiency across the manufacturing facility.
- Develop and manage preventative and predictive maintenance programmes.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, and cost efficiency.
- Lead capital investment, machinery installation, and automation projects.
- Support production, quality, and new product introduction activities from an engineering perspective.
- Manage engineering budgets, contractors, suppliers, and external service providers.
- Monitor and improve engineering KPIs, maintenance performance, and asset reliability.
- Identify opportunities to optimise manufacturing processes and reduce downtime.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental requirements.
About You
Proven experience in an Engineering Manager, Maintenance Manager, or Senior Engineering Leadership position.
- Strong background within manufacturing, engineering, precision engineering, or industrial environments.
- Excellent understanding of maintenance strategies, asset reliability, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience leading engineering projects, capital expenditure programmes, and process improvement initiatives.
- Strong leadership, communication, and people management skills.
- Commercially aware with experience managing budgets and resources effectively.
- Hands‑on approach with the ability to support operational and strategic objectives.
- HNC, HND, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Engineering or a related discipline preferred.
