Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Functional Analyst to support changes to the Oracle General Ledger (GL) dataflow, specifically relating to the integration of new PRISM position data. The analyst will evaluate business and technical impacts, assess downstream dependencies, perform data and process impact analysis, and coordinate with technology, finance, and reporting teams to ensure successful delivery of changes without disruption to existing reporting or controls.
Key Accountabilities
- Analyse the full end to end dataflow from Oracle GL β PRISM β Data Warehouse β Reporting systems.
- Identify and map all systems, data models, jobs, reports, and processes impacted by new PRISM positions.
- Document lineage, dependencies, transformation logic, and data usage patterns.
- Evaluate business rules, transformation logic, and reconciliation frameworks impacted by changes to GL data.
- Analyse deviations, gaps, or inconsistencies in new PRISM data compared to existing datasets.
- Work with developers to translate findings into functional specifications.
- Gather requirements from Finance, Regulatory Reporting, Risk, and IT stakeholders.
- Produce functional requirements, acceptance criteria, and impact assessments.
- Support solution design discussions to ensure changes are feasible and aligned with business outcomes.
- Work with QA to define test cases & data scenarios for GL and PRISM data.
- Validate data changes in SIT, UAT, and pre production environments.
- Support reconciliation and control checks on financial and regulatory outputs.
- Act as a bridge between Finance SMEs, Technology teams, Data Warehouse teams.
- Prepare documentation including functional specs, downstream impact reports, lineage maps, and test evidence.
- Communicate progress, issues, and risks clearly to project leads and governance forums.
- Analyse impacts of additional PRISM positions on Oracle GL integration points.
- Assess downstream effects: Data Warehouse tables, staging layers, SSIS jobs, SQL transformations, cubes, regulatory reports, finance reconciliations, and audit controls.
- Identify risks, gaps, and dependencies across systems and processes.
- Produce formal documentation including business requirements, functional specifications, lineage diagrams, and impact assessments.
- Maintain updated dataflow and lineage documentation as changes progress.
- Support SIT, UAT, and post deployment validation.
- Coordinate with QA, developers, and Finance SMEs to ensure changes function as expected.
- Investigate defects and provide root cause analysis.
- Present findings to Project Managers, Finance leadership, and Data Governance forums.
- Ensure all changes meet audit, compliance, and data quality standards.
- Support production readiness assessments and go live activities.
Skills & Experience
- Strong understanding of Oracle GL, chart of accounts, accounting logic, and financial data flows.
- Experience with PRISM, Finance Data Warehouses, or similar position keeping systems.
- Understanding of ETL pipelines, SQL based data transformations, and staging β core β reporting data models.
- Ability to read SQL (basic to intermediate) for data validation and lineage tracing.
- Experience with financial/regulatory reporting domains (desirable).
- Strong capability to map and analyse data lineage and downstream dependencies.
- Ability to interpret complex data models and transformations.
- Ability to translate technical issues into business risks and communicate them effectively.
- Strong documentation skills (process flows, impact assessments, functional specs).
- Experience as a Functional Analyst, Finance Systems Analyst, Data Analyst, or Business Analyst within banking or financial services.
- Strong domain knowledge in GL accounting, Finance data flows, or Regulatory/Financial Reporting.
- Comfortable navigating complex data ecosystems and interacting with both Finance & Technology teams.
- Prior experience working with Oracle Financial systems and/or PRISM is highly desirable.
