Candidates must be flexible and able to work both early and late shifts as required.
Working Hours
Trial Week:
- Monday to Friday
- 9:00am - 5:00pm
Thereafter (Rotating Shift Pattern):
- 6:30am - 1:30pm
- 1:30pm - 9:30pm
We are currently seeking a reliable and proactive School Caretaker to join the team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with maintenance, facilities, or caretaker experience who enjoys a hands-on role and takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean, and well-presented environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Open and secure school buildings each day.
- Carry out basic maintenance, repairs, and decorating tasks.
- Undertake minor repairs to fixtures and fittings.
- Ensure all plant and equipment is maintained to the required standard.
- Keep school grounds clean, safe, and tidy.
- Conduct routine health and safety checks.
- Set up classrooms, halls, chairs, tables, and equipment for school events and activities.
- Monitor heating, lighting, and security systems.
- Respond promptly to day-to-day site issues and maintenance requests.
- Liaise with contractors and supervise site visits.
- Manage waste disposal and recycling procedures.
- Respond to emergency maintenance issues when required.
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health & safety, and school policies.
Requirements
- Previous caretaker, maintenance, facilities, or site operative experience preferred.
- Good practical maintenance and DIY skills.
- Reliable, hardworking, and able to work independently.
- Flexible approach to working hours.
- Strong awareness of health and safety procedures.
- Enhanced DBS Certificate required.
