About the Role
Niche Fused Minerals are seeking a reliable and motivated Multi Skilled Operative to join their 24-hour processing plant in Hull. This is a hands-on role within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, supporting the production of fused mineral products using a range of specialist plant equipment. Working as part of a shift team, you will be responsible for operating machinery, maintaining production standards, and ensuring all processes run efficiently, safely, and in line with quality requirements. This is a varied role offering exposure to multiple production processes and equipment, making it an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career within manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a range of production plant and processing equipment
- Support production activities in line with shift requirements and targets
- Record production data, including output, downtime, and performance metrics
- Carry out line set-up and follow batch preparation instructions
- Monitor equipment performance and identify areas for improvement
- Palletise finished goods and move materials using forklift or pallet trucks
- Complete production batches and ensure quality sign-off with QC
- Conduct routine checks and sample products for testing
- Maintain accurate records and follow all operational procedures
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Work in full compliance with all health, safety, environmental and quality procedures
- Correctly use PPE and maintain a safe working environment
- Report any incidents, near misses, or hazards immediately
- Support investigations and continuous improvement initiatives
- Participate in site safety procedures, including emergency response duties
- Follow 5S housekeeping standards and contribute to audits
About You
We're looking for a team player with a strong work ethic and commitment to safety, who thrives in a manufacturing environment. You will ideally have:
- At least 2 years' experience in a manufacturing or production environment
- A flexible approach to shift work and overtime
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
- A proactive approach to safety and continuous improvement
Qualifications
- Counterbalance Forklift Licence (preferred)
- Good standard of education, including Maths and English
- NVQ in Performing Manufacturing Operations (desirable)
