Job Title: Revenues Officer (Business Rates / NNDR)
Location: Local authority based in Croydon - Hybrid Working (can be remote depending on experience)
Hourly rate: £20.38 PAYE / £27.03 Umbrella
Contract Length: 6-month contract (possibility of extension)
Working Pattern: Full Time, Monday - Friday, 36 hours

In this role, you'll play a key part in managing Business Rates accounts and delivering exceptional customer service across multiple channels. Your day-to-day will involve:
- Keeping Business Rates accounts accurate and up-to-date - applying reductions, updating payer details, issuing refunds, and tracing gone-aways.
- Negotiating post-summons payment arrangements that help maximise council income.
- Handling customer contact via phone, email, online services, and written correspondence.
- Supporting court hearings by agreeing arrangements and requesting adjournments when needed.
- Taking ownership of recovery actions and advising customers on Business Rates processes.
- Resolving queries quickly while maintaining professionalism and sensitivity.
- Agreeing instalment plans and promoting Direct Debit options.
- Managing re-valuation schedules and updates from the Valuation Office Agency.
- Preparing detailed cases for enforcement agents and ensuring correct allocation of payments.
- Driving recovery on post-liability order debt to maximise collection.

- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Strong understanding of legislation and how to interpret it
- Comfortable managing workloads and working to deadlines
- Solid IT skills and confidence using digital systems
- A professional approach to handling sensitive information
