Are you an experienced Governance professional with a background in the housing sector, looking for an opportunity where you can make an immediate impact?

We're working with a dynamic organisation seeking a Governance Manager to take the strategic lead across governance, risk management, assurance and internal controls. You'll play a key role in strengthening the organisation's control environment, embedding a proactive approach to governance and providing high-quality assurance to senior leadership and the Board.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who can quickly get up to speed, confidently challenge existing practices and work collaboratively across the organisation to drive improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and continuously develop the organisation's governance framework, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, best practice and internal policies.
  • Manage the governance calendar, coordinating Board, Committee and Executive meetings, ensuring effective administration, decision-making and follow-up of actions.
  • Support the Board, Committees and senior leadership team by providing expert governance advice, guidance and assurance on statutory and regulatory obligations.
  • Lead the production and review of governance policies, terms of reference, delegated authorities and constitutional documents, ensuring they remain current and effective.
  • Oversee Board and Committee administration, ensuring high-quality agendas, reports, minutes and governance records are produced and maintained.
  • Develop and maintain governance reporting, providing insightful updates to the Board, Audit & Risk Committee and Executive Team on governance performance and compliance.
  • Support Board effectiveness through governance reviews, member inductions, training programmes and annual effectiveness assessments.
  • Work closely with colleagues across the business to embed a strong culture of transparency, accountability and effective decision-making.

About you

We're looking for an experienced, credible professional who can combine strong technical knowledge with the ability to build relationships, influence and constructively challenge at all levels.

You'll ideally bring:

  • Strong experience across governance, risk management, assurance and internal controls.
  • Experience within a regulated environment, particularly social housing, would be advantageous.
  • Experience applying risk and internal control frameworks within a complex organisation.
  • Demonstrable experience in leading internal audit programmes.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify issues and develop pragmatic solutions.
  • Confidence working with senior stakeholders and providing appropriate challenge.
  • Excellent written communication and experience producing high-quality reports for senior leadership and/or Boards.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach with the ability to work autonomously.
  • A relevant professional qualification or equivalent experience.

This is a great opportunity to join an organisation where you can make an immediate impact, strengthen its approach to risk and assurance and help shape future best practice.

If you have the relevant experience and are available to take on a new opportunity, we'd love to hear from you.
