Our client is the world’s leading supplier of machinery for the global can-making industry. Their high-speed machines can be found in plants around the world performing value-added functions. In addition, they supply individual machines, design, install and support. Located in Cumbria, UK, the company employs over 120 employees with a turnover exceeding £100m.
ABOUT THE ROLE: The Systems Programme Manager will coordinate multiple global activities simultaneously, utilising project planning and management procedures, practices, and techniques.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with sales team to understand customer requirements.
- Review sales contracts for projects as required by Project Director.
- Chair weekly projects review meeting with function leads.
- Manage coordination of finalising specifications.
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules and timelines for global OEM projects.
- Support the complete project life cycle (from order to shipment) ensuring timely, successful implementation of customer orders.
- Ensure projects are well planned and organized, including documenting milestone meetings to comply with ISO 9001 standards.
- Participate in cross-project planning to resolve conflicts with project priorities, resourcing, schedule, and scope.
- Communicate with customers in all stages of the project life cycle.
- Retrieve engineering requirements, meet buy off expectations and provide support with shipped equipment.
- Track project changes and produce updated schedules as agreed with Product Director, engineering, supply chain personnel, operations, and customers.
- Receive input from Product Director and Project Engineers to develop and maintain detailed schedules.
- Take ownership and independent actions to solve problems impacting projects.
- Evaluate existing project management practices and recommend improvements.
- Oversee and train project Coordinators and develop their skills and abilities.
- Assist with implementation of Project Management software.
- Liaise with management at all levels of the business.
- Answer customers' questions about products and availability.
- Communicate status of “due bills” and project updates to customers.
- Manage SharePoint system and have authority over structure and system changes.
- Manage resource allocations and balance conflicts.
- Report on capacity planning for each function.
- Drive and manage standardisation of project schedules and task lists.
- Drive and develop IFS and other software related systems of work to improve efficiency across projects and conveying departments.
- Oversee management of internal conveying build schedules.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED: The Systems Programme Manager will have experience and knowledge of:
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, Operations Management, Engineering, Marketing or Project Management preferred.
- Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in the can making industry or machine building industry or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong foundation in project planning and analysis, basic qualitative/quantitative evaluation is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Project, Word, and Excel.
- Estimated travel is 10-20% or as required.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills and the ability to plan.
- Ability to influence change through communication and collaboration.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT IN RETURN: The client offers the Systems Programme Manager a competitive annual salary of £55,000, company pension, 25 days holidays plus bank holidays, discretionary annual bonus, etc.
