ADE Power Ltd is seeking an experienced and highly capable Paint Manager to lead and develop our industrial painting function. This is a pivotal role that combines hands‑on technical expertise with strong leadership capability. The successful candidate will act as one of the business’s lead paint specialists, responsible for ensuring the highest standards of coating quality, compliance, and efficiency, while also leading, managing, and developing a high‑performing team. This role is critical in maintaining ADE Power’s reputation for delivering high‑quality engineered products within demanding sectors such as data centres, power generation, and industrial applications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate, and manage the paint shop team to deliver against production and quality targets
  • Develop team capability through structured training, coaching, and performance management
  • Establish clear standards, procedures, and accountability within the department
  • Drive a culture of quality, safety, and continuous improvement
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and succession planning
  • Work collaboratively with Production, Quality, Engineering, and HSE teams
  • Act as a subject matter expert for all painting and coating processes
  • Oversee surface preparation, coating application, and curing processes
  • Ensure compliance with relevant specifications (e.g. ISO standards, customer requirements)
  • Troubleshoot coating defects and implement corrective actions
  • Maintain and improve painting procedures and quality standards
  • Manage material selection and supplier relationships
  • Ensure maintenance and utilisation of paint plant and equipment
  • Lead audits and ensure compliance with HSEQ requirements

Requirements

  • Proven experience in an industrial painting/coating environment
  • Strong knowledge of surface preparation and coating systems
  • Demonstrable leadership experience in manufacturing
  • Ability to balance technical expertise with team leadership
  • Strong understanding of quality standards and defect analysis
  • Experience working with production schedules and KPIs
  • Background in heavy metal fabrication, power generation, oil & gas or similar sectors
  • Knowledge of coating specifications such as ISO 12944
  • Experience with audits and inspection regimes
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, 5S)
  • Strong leadership presence with ability to influence and develop others
  • Detail-oriented with commitment to quality

Working Hours

The working hours for this position are 40 hours per week from 7am to 4pm, Monday to Thursday and from 7am to 1pm on Friday. This business is closed for Bank Holidays, we also enjoy a shutdown every Christmas until after the New Year.
