The Real Estate team at Addleshaw Goddard is recognised as a market leader, and in the last two years over 800 funders, investors, developers and agents have relied on our help to deliver nearly 14,000 real estate projects. Following a busy and successful year, the team are looking to appoint a Managing Associate to help sustain momentum and further accelerate our growth.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to manage your own caseload, while also working closely with partners on major, high-value transactions. If you have already begun to develop a specialism within commercial property, we will actively support you in deepening your expertise and building your profile in that area. At the same time, you will maintain a varied workload, ensuring both breadth of experience and flexibility within the team.
A key aspect of the role will be your involvement in developing and supervising junior team members. You will play an important part in mentoring and supporting their growth, helping to shape the next generation of commercial property lawyers within the firm. The Real Estate Division is one of Addleshaw Goddard's largest, comprising a team of nearly 200. In our Manchester office, the Real Estate team currently comprises of 7 partners and circa 29 other fee earners. The team places a high emphasis on their transactional expertise and bringing a commercial and business-oriented approach to a wide range of property matters.
We advise some of the biggest clients with the most exciting schemes, all from our Manchester office – such as Peel on the acquisition and redevelopment of Fiddler's Ferry power station, Bruntwood on its SciTech campuses in Manchester and Birmingham and National Grid transitioning the UK to Net Zero by 2050.
In delivering transactions we use the latest technology in conjunction with our in-house legal tech team, including the Orbital Witness and HighQ platforms in which all team members are trained. We encourage our team to think differently and to test the latest technology, including advances in generative AI.
The team provides expert advice on a wide range of landlord and tenant matters, property management, and sales and acquisitions for some of the firm's most significant clients. Our work spans high-profile office, retail, leisure, development, and regeneration projects across the UK, offering exposure to some of the most exciting and complex schemes in the market.
Management of large-scale projects involving the roll-out of leases or easements, utilising the latest legal technology and working closely with our Paralegal division and junior team members. Working collaboratively as a cohesive team, to execute large-scale, high-value, client matters to the highest standard.
As a Managing Associate you will play a role in helping the team develop and build relationships with new and existing clients through business development initiatives. Internally you will play a key part in shaping and driving the development of the team, including the supervision of junior members, and there will be plenty of opportunity for you to take on additional responsibility and advance your career.
Your Areas of Knowledge and Expertise:
- Are a UK qualified lawyer with 5 years PQE + experience within commercial property and real estate matters.
- Have enthusiasm, resilience and ambition to find solutions to clients' legal challenges and requirements.
- Be a confident stakeholder manager, with evidenced experience of engaging with internal and external stakeholders of all levels.
- Adopt a consultative and thorough approach to tasks.
