As an Associate within our growing Restructuring team, you will work directly with a partner on the most innovative financing transactions acting for market leading clients investing in high growth companies. This hire is a response to increasing demand from our diverse and expanding client base and to support the firm's wider ambition to build one of the UK's most dynamic and future-focused Finance practices.

Our Restructuring team has enviable positions on all the major bank panels and benefits from excellent relationships with restructuring and insolvency specialists at leading accountancy firms and agents. With established Restructuring teams across the UK, the national team has 11 Partners and more than 31 specialist restructuring and insolvency lawyers. This dedicated resource offers a full service across the entire spectrum of restructuring and insolvency assignments in a broad range of sectors.

The practice focuses on advising lenders and borrowers in a variety of innovative finance transactions, including advising on multi-jurisdictional venture and growth debt transactions in the tech and life sciences sector as well as guiding stakeholders through financial difficulty implementing cross-border special situations and restructuring transactions. You will receive hands-on experience dealing directly with clients, drafting documents and negotiating with opposing counsel.

Continuous development is valued, and you will be encouraged to engage with formal training programmes and to draw on mentoring, coaching and leadership development programmes available to you.

To be successful in this role:

  • Based in our London office, you are a UK-qualified solicitor with 1-4 years PQE and a strong legal background focused on restructuring and insolvency law with experience of advising in relation to debt transactions.
  • Advising on out of court restructuring and work-out transactions including emergency funding and consensual debt for equity swaps.
  • Providing advice in relation to other restructuring tools and procedures including the use of insolvency processes, schemes of arrangements and/or restructuring plans.
  • Analysing the capital structure of organisations and providing strategic investment advice to financial institutions.

With excellent people skills, you are a high-quality communicator and team player, with a flair for developing relationships. You are commercially astute and want to learn and develop as a first-class lawyer.
