The Client Management Information (MI) Analyst supports the delivery of financial reporting, budget management and management information for a major client account and other strategically important clients, combining internal financial control and reporting with the production and coordination of external client reporting.
This role works closely with fee earners, the client account team and the wider finance function to ensure accurate, timely financial and client reporting.
The role sits within the Group Finance - Complex Clients team, supporting the delivery of financial reporting, budget management and management information for a major client account and other strategically important clients.
The team works closely with fee earners, the client account team, Legal Operations and the wider finance function in support of the firm's most strategically important clients.
What You'll Do
- Reporting and KPI submission; budget management; external client reporting; client account team support; monthly discrepancy analysis; monthly closed matters reporting; inbox and instruction management; daily administration and query handling; knowledge and materials management; and client budget review calls.
- You will manage weekly WIP reporting and liaise with fee earners on over-budget or dormant matters, review and update budgets in the practice management system, prepare and submit accurate and timely external client reports, prepare weekly financial reports for client account team calls, cross-check budgets against system and assignment of instruction (AOI) data to resolve discrepancies, extract and review billing and budget data for closed matters, monitor client instruction inboxes, respond to day-to-day fee earner queries, maintain client-related materials on Share Point, and coordinate monthly client budget review calls, capturing actions and maintaining the follow-up tracker.
- The role provides a good entry level perspective of working in a fast-past commercial finance team within a law firm environment.
Who We're Looking For
- A relevant degree, such as finance, accounting, economics, business, mathematics or another numerate discipline.
- Strong numeracy and attention to detail, with the ability to work accurately with financial and budget data.
- Good Excel skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work professionally with internal stakeholders and external clients.
- Well organised, with the ability to manage multiple recurring deadlines and prioritise effectively, particularly during month-end and quarter-end periods.
- A proactive, problem-solving approach, comfortable identifying and querying discrepancies and following up until resolved.
- Confidence working across systems and willingness to learn practice management, matter management and reporting tools.
- A professional, client-focused mindset, with an understanding of the importance of accuracy and confidentiality in handling client financial information.
- The ability to work independently once trained, while knowing when to raise issues to more senior colleagues or the client account manager.
