We are looking for a talented commercial contracts lawyer to help grow our nationally recognised team, with a particular focus on intellectual property and technology (including data and digital) matters. This strategic hire will support rising client demand across our core sectors – retail, technology, sports, healthcare, and financial services – and will play an important role in strengthening our non‑contentious offering.
The successful candidate (3+ years’ PQE) will join an established, high‑performing and collaborative team, primarily supporting Partner Ross Nicol, with opportunities to work closely with Helena Brown and Ross McKenzie. You’ll gain exposure to top‑quality work, excellent career‑development prospects, and the potential for client secondments. The role can be based in either our Glasgow or Edinburgh office, with a minimum of three days a week in the office.
What You'll Do
- Draft and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including supply, distribution, outsourcing and IP agreements.
- Support senior lawyers on IP matters such as patent, trade mark and software licensing, as well as R&D, confidentiality and franchise agreements.
- Assist with technology contracts, including software development, licensing and IT outsourcing arrangements.
- Provide practical guidance (with supervision) on consumer law, data protection and advertising compliance.
- Contribute to delivering managed legal services, ensuring efficient handling of everyday commercial contracts.
- Support on major transactions, including brand acquisitions, divestments and IT procurement projects.
- Build strong internal and external relationships while supporting the development of trainees and paralegals.
