Job Description:
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
• We are expanding and looking to recruit a Managing Associate into our Commercial Disputes team, based in London.
• This is an exciting opportunity to play a central role in working closely with our UK and International Partners on client relationship development and the continued expansion of the team and practice, which will provide clear career progression opportunities at a pivotal stage in your career.
• We have nurtured an environment where ambitious and hard-working lawyers are supported to succeed enjoying high calibre work with like-minded, inspiring colleagues who care about each other and their clients.
THE GROUP AND TEAM
The Commercial Disputes Group has lawyers across all UK offices and internationally. In each of the markets in which we operate we are recognised by independent commentators as one of the leading disputes and investigation practices, with a strong reputation in all our offices for our commercial and innovative approach to resolving business disputes.
We have real expertise in key areas, including swift delivery of commercial solutions to complex and critical issues. We can strategically deploy a combination of formal proceedings (including court and arbitral proceedings) and all aspects of alternative dispute resolution (including negotiation, mediation and adjudication). We recognise that an in-depth understanding of the transactions underpinning the disputes we deal with is essential to the sensible resolution of those disputes, so often work closely with our non-contentious colleagues. Our in-depth knowledge and understanding of the way our clients operate gives us a significant advantage over our opponents, who are frequently the magic circle/major city firms.
We represent a large number of blue-chip companies, public sector authorities/departments and high net worth individuals across a huge range of sectors including retail, transport, digital, food and drink, health, industrial, automotive, energy, utilities and financial services. We pride ourselves on being a busy, high performing, diverse and cohesive team.
WHAT TO EXPECT IN THIS ROLE
• You will be flexible, agile and enthusiastic in growing and developing your knowledge and experience of commercial disputes at a senior level within a supportive and collegiate environment.
• You will be expected to be client focused and thinking about how AI and other tools may be harnessed to improve the overall service.
• Fostering and growing client relationships and developing new ones is an integral part of this role. You can expect to collaborate not only with colleagues in the direct team but also with colleagues in other AG practice areas as well as colleagues immersed in relevant industry groups.
• Continuous self-development is valued, and you will be encouraged to engage with formal training programmes (whether technical or skills based) and to draw on mentoring, coaching and leadership development programmes available to you.
• As a senior member of the team, you will be expected to generously share your time, knowledge and experience to develop and support less experienced colleagues.
YOUR AREAS OF KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE
You will:
• Have at least 5 years+ PQE experience in private practice within a similar role.
• Be flexible and agile and have enthusiasm for growing and developing your knowledge and experience and undertaking intellectually challenging work.
• Have a keen eye for detail, be self-motivated and proactive and confident in building enduring relationships with clients that are based on trust and high-quality service delivery.
• Be inquisitive and want to understand our clients, their drivers and what matters to them, so that your advice has quality, imagination, and impact.

Our success has been built by people from the widest range of backgrounds, locations, and perspectives. We have a number of employee networks that provide space to discuss the differences that make us who we are and celebrate this at AG.
