If you are searching for something with a difference and would like the opportunity to join a thriving and growing team, Addleshaw Goddard are looking to recruit a Social, Sustainable and Green Finance Lawyer to join our team which focuses on finance that addresses sustainability challenges.

The Social, Sustainable and Green Finance practice is the pre-eminent team particularly in the Affordable and Social Housing finance sector across the UK, and this is a great opportunity to join us. We draw together a larger team of nationally recognised experts than any of our competitors which enables us to deliver the most complex and innovative transactions better than anyone else. We act on all aspects of Social, Sustainable and Green funding, whether related to finance, property security or debt capital markets, and we act for every funder and every investor. For debt financing, refinancing and/or restructuring, no other firm comes close to us in terms of strength in depth, expertise, collaborative approach or delivery.
A few highlights from our recent key deals:
- Acted for eleven funders and M&G Trustee Company Limited as bond trustee and security trustee on the merger of social housing providers Optivo and Southern Housing Group, and the refinance of a £2.3bn existing loan and ISDA documentation and associated property security work.
- Acted for NatWest Structured Finance as Document Co-ordinator and Joint ESG Co-ordinator with Barclays Bank on a £900m eight funder syndicated loan facility to social housing provider Places for People.
- Acted for eleven funders on the transition of £2.75bn financing arrangements with London & Quadrant Housing Trust into sustainability-linked loans.
- Acted for Barclays Bank and National Westminster Bank on their respective first green loans in the social finance sector and Santander's first sustainability linked loans and green loans to universities.

You'll be part of a team addressing the most urgent environmental, social and green issues, from decarbonisation efforts to revolutionising social housing. There is always something new to learn and the team has developed plenty of ways to share ideas and support new members.
Your areas of knowledge and expertise:
- Be a qualified lawyer with a minimum of 1 year PQE, with an experience of finance or project finance transactions.
- Have the ability to actively support complex transactions, liaising and co-ordinating with fee earners from other relevant disciplines as needed.
- The enthusiasm to develop our business and market to clients.
- The patience and experience to develop junior associates, trainees and paralegals in the team.
- Strong commercial awareness – but most importantly a willingness to learn and a genuine interest in the subject.
- Excellent organisation skills.
- Proven to work efficiently in a team.
