As part of our on‑going AG2030 growth strategy, we are seeking an Associate to join the London Infrastructure, Projects & Energy team to help service our expanding roster of project finance clients across the energy and infrastructure sectors.
You will be working closely with 3 partners (focussed on power, renewables and broader energy / infrastructure project finance), the London IPE fee‑earning team as well as the larger IPE team located across our UK and international offices.
What You'll Do:
- You will be immersed in a dynamic practice specialising in energy and infrastructure project finance, with significant exposure to cross‑border, multi‑source financings (including bank debt, capital markets, ECA and DFI funding), refinancings and secondary market transactions. You will work on matters in the UK and internationally across a range of sectors including conventional and nuclear power, renewables (wind, solar, hydropower, battery storage), industrial gases, LNG and other strategic infrastructure such as ports, roads and logistics assets.
- Your work will focus on supporting clients from early structuring and term sheet negotiation, through execution of finance and project documentation, to amendments, restructurings and refinancings. You will act for high‑profile clients, becoming a trusted adviser on complex and high‑value transactions.
- You will work closely with partners and clients on project‑level documentation (such as offtake, construction and O&M contracts) where needed for bankability, and on due diligence of project documentation in connection with financings, acquisitions, disposals and joint‑ventures.
- The role also offers outstanding career prospects within an expanding, entrepreneurial and sociable team. Our market‑leading Associate development programme will help you map out key objectives and timescales for your career progression and provide you with a mentor and frequent check‑ins.
Who We're Looking For:
- Have at least 1 year PQE+ experience within an Infrastructure, Projects & Energy / project finance setting, with a focus on finance transactions.
- Experience handling project finance documentation, including facility agreements, security packages and intercreditor arrangements, and managing the flow‑down of risk through project‑level contracts and finance documents on long‑term infrastructure projects.
- Ideally have experience of cross‑border or multi‑source project financings (for example involving ECAs, DFIs, mezzanine or capital markets funding), or a strong interest in developing expertise in these areas.
- Have enthusiasm, resilience and ambition to find solutions to clients’ legal and commercial challenges and requirements.
- Remain calm and optimistic in time‑critical situations or under pressure, and be comfortable working on transactions with multiple workstreams and stakeholders.
- Be inquisitive and want to understand our clients, their drivers and what matters to them, so that your advice has quality, imagination and impact.
