Role Description
The Additive Manufacturing Process Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Burscough. This role is responsible for developing, optimizing, and documenting additive manufacturing processes, including build preparation, parameter selection, and post-processing workflows.
Day-to-day activities include setting up and running additive manufacturing equipment, monitoring print quality, troubleshooting process issues, and performing root-cause analysis to improve reliability and throughput.
The engineer will collaborate with design, production, and quality teams to ensure parts meet performance and regulatory requirements, and will support the introduction of new materials, technologies, and products. The role also involves maintaining equipment, implementing safety and quality standards, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing operations.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in additive manufacturing technologies, including process development, machine operation, and post-processing methods.
- Experience with CAD/CAM tools and design for additive manufacturing (DfAM) principles to support product and process optimization.
- Knowledge of materials science relevant to metals used in additive manufacturing, including testing and characterization.
- Skills in process validation, quality assurance, and data-driven problem solving, including use of statistical tools and documentation standards.
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Ability to work safely in a workshop or production environment, with familiarity in industry safety practices and regulatory guidelines.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment, particularly in additive or advanced manufacturing, is highly beneficial.
