An opportunity has arisen for a Finance Supervisor / Finance Team Leader to join a not-for-profit housing association providing affordable housing, supported accommodation, and community services.
As a Finance Supervisor / Finance Team Leader, you will oversee key finance operations, supervise day‑to‑day processing activities and support the efficient running of the finance function.
This permanent role offers a salary range of £33,000 – £35,000 and benefits.
Flexible working arrangements, including remote working and the option to work from other locations as required.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the day‑to‑day operation of the sales ledger, purchase ledger, banking and nominal ledger.
- Maintain cashbooks and complete bank reconciliations across multiple accounts.
- Ensure rent income records reconcile accurately with financial records.
- Post journals and maintain the nominal ledger.
- Supervise sales ledger activities, including invoicing, postings and resolving queries.
- Supervise purchase ledger processes, ensuring invoices are processed accurately and payment runs are completed on time.
- Monitor rent collection activities and ensure reconciliations are completed promptly.
- Assist with the maintenance of the fixed asset register.
- Ensure compliance with financial procedures and internal policies.
- Manage your own workload while providing guidance and support to the wider finance team.
- What we are looking for
- Previously worked as a Finance Supervisor, Senior Finance Assistant, Finance Team Leader, Accounts Team Leader, Senior Finance Officer, Finance Operations Supervisor, Accounts Supervisor, Finance Coordinator, Assistant Finance Manager, Finance Officer, Senior Accounts Assistant, Finance Administrator, Purchase Ledger Supervisor, Sales Ledger Supervisor, Housing Finance Officer or in a similar role.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working within a busy finance or accounting office environment.
- Qualified through finance experience or equivalent practical knowledge.
- Experience using accounting software and payroll systems (beneficial).
- Strong bank reconciliation and ledger management experience.
- Good understanding of sales ledger, purchase ledger and banking processes.
- Highly skilled in using spreadsheets and word processing software.
- Ability to supervise and support finance colleagues while meeting operational targets.
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
- Able to handle confidential financial information accurately.
