We’re recruiting an experienced Senior Software Developer to join an innovative engineering team, developing high-performance backend software solutions using Java and C++ within Linux environments.
This is a senior-level position offering the opportunity to take technical ownership, contribute to architecture and technical strategy, and mentor other developers while working on complex, enterprise-scale systems.
What you’ll be doing:
- Designing and developing high-performance backend applications using Java and C++
- Building APIs, microservices and distributed applications
- Leading the technical design and implementation of software components and services
- Developing multithreaded and concurrent applications
- Troubleshooting and optimising software performance within Linux environments
- Conducting code reviews and maintaining high engineering standards
- Supporting architectural decisions and technical roadmaps
- Containerising applications using Docker
- Contributing to CI/CD and DevSecOps practices
- Mentoring junior and mid-level software engineers
- Working closely with customers and internal stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions
What we’re looking for:
- 5+ years’ commercial software development experience
- Strong Java and/or C++ development skills
- Strong experience working within Linux environments
- Backend applications, APIs and distributed systems experience
- Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns and OOP
- Experience with multithreading and concurrent development
- Relational and/or NoSQL database experience
- Docker/containerisation knowledge
- CI/CD experience – Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD or Azure DevOps
- Strong debugging, performance analysis and problem-solving skills
- Experience working within Agile development environments
- Salary up to £80,000
