What You’ll Be Doing:
- Supporting the design, development, and operation of secure, scalable data platforms for high-profile defence and national security programmes
- Building event-driven data solutions that enable automation, analytics, and AI-powered applications
- Developing and maintaining data ingestion, integration, storage, processing, and governance capabilities
- Creating reusable workflows and automation frameworks that help technical users work more efficiently and consistently
- Delivering configurable data integration solutions using standardised connectors, transformation patterns, and orchestration tools
- Designing systems that perform effectively in challenging environments with limited or disrupted connectivity
- Building and supporting real-time and batch data processing pipelines using modern streaming and distributed data technologies
- Implementing metadata management, data lineage, cataloguing, and governance capabilities
- Contributing to platform reliability through monitoring, deployment automation, performance optimisation, and operational support
- Working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver secure, resilient, and scalable solutions
Main Skills Needed:
- Experience working as a Data Engineer, Platform Engineer, or similar role within production environments
- Knowledge of distributed systems and modern data platform architectures
- Hands-on experience with data integration, streaming technologies, and reusable integration frameworks
- Experience enabling workflow automation and improving data processes for technical users
- Strong understanding of data modelling, schema management, and data contracts
- Knowledge of batch and real-time data processing concepts
- Experience building reliable, scalable, and operationally robust platforms
- Understanding of monitoring, alerting, deployment automation, and incident management
- Security-conscious approach with experience implementing governance, access controls, and auditability
