A global engineering and technology business at the forefront of defence innovation is looking for a Systems Engineer to support the delivery of complex, mission-critical programmes. This is a role where your work will genuinely matter — shaping systems that support national security and future capability across multiple domains.

Role Overview:

  • Location: New Malden (hybrid working)
  • Package: £65,000 - £72,000 + bonus and benefits
  • Industry: Defence & Engineering

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Deliver Systems Engineering activities across the full project lifecycle, from requirements through to integration and acceptance.
  • Lead technical work packages, ensuring delivery to agreed quality, cost and schedule targets.
  • Produce, review and maintain key engineering documentation and technical artefacts.
  • Plan and support major engineering reviews including SRR, PDR and CDR activities.
  • Work closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment against technical requirements and design baselines.
  • Collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams including Software, Hardware, Cyber, Safety and Verification & Validation.
  • Support risk identification, technical assurance, estimation activities and bid support.
  • Provide technical guidance and contribute to continuous improvement across engineering delivery.

Main Skills Needed:

  • Degree qualified in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience working within defence, aerospace, maritime or another highly regulated engineering environment.
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering principles including requirements management, system design, integration and acceptance.
  • Knowledge of operational technology, control systems and PLC/SCADA environments.
  • Experience with Model Based Design approaches and tools such as Enterprise Architect.
  • Familiarity with requirements management tools including DOORS.
  • Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills.
  • Understanding of marine systems, environmental standards and safety-related engineering.
  • Exposure to V&V activities, EMC or environmental testing would be advantageous.
  • INCOSE accreditation (ASE/CSEP) beneficial but not essential.
