As Head of the Infrastructure Engineering, you will define and drive the strategy for UK&I infrastructure engineering. You will lead the design, deployment, and operation of core infrastructure services, spearhead automation and platform innovation, and develop a high-performing team to deliver secure, scalable foundations that empower cross-functional initiatives and business transformation.
Type: Contract - 3-6 months
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, delivery, and ongoing operation of infrastructure services across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments.
- Champion automation across infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and deployment using modern toolsets.
- Ensure infrastructure platforms consistently meet performance, availability, resilience, and security requirements.
- Own the full lifecycle management of compute, storage, networking, and virtualisation platforms, with a strong focus on cost efficiency and reliability.
- Establish engineering standards and best practices, guiding teams on observability, monitoring, and effective incident response.
- Promote close collaboration across engineering, architecture, and operations to deliver a unified and reliable platform capability.
- Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing infrastructure engineering team, fostering deep technical expertise and a culture of continuous improvement.
- Enable business and technology transformation initiatives by providing secure, scalable, and well-instrumented infrastructure foundations.
What you'll bring:
- Significant experience in infrastructure engineering or comparable hands-on technical leadership roles.
- Strong expertise in cloud platforms such as AWS and/or Azure, including cloud-native infrastructure services.
- In-depth knowledge of virtualisation technologies (e.g. VMware, Hyper-V) and their operational management.
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including routing, DNS, firewalls, and load balancing.
- Proven experience administering and optimising Linux and Windows Server environments.
- Advanced skills in infrastructure automation tools (e.g. Terraform, Ansible, Puppet) and CI/CD integration.
- Strong knowledge of infrastructure security principles, access management, and vulnerability remediation.
- Hands-on experience with monitoring and logging platforms (e.g. Prometheus, ELK, Datadog) and performance optimisation.
