What You’ll Be Doing:
- Leading a structured assessment of cloud and data platforms to support modern analytics and AI use cases
- Evaluating and recommending the most suitable cloud environment (Azure or GCP), with Databricks as the analytics layer
- Producing clear, costed, board-level recommendations covering timelines, risks, and delivery approach
- Designing and implementing the approved cloud and data architecture end to end
- Translating business and analytical needs into practical, buildable technical solutions
- Balancing performance, security, cost control, and operational simplicity throughout the design
- Working closely with analysts, IT teams, and senior stakeholders to deliver a platform that sticks
- Handing over a fully analysis-ready environment that a small analytics team can run and extend confidently
Main Skills Needed:
- Proven hands-on experience delivering cloud-based analytics platforms end to end
- Strong expertise in Azure or GCP, including Databricks implementations
- Solid understanding of lakehouse architectures, data engineering, and modern analytics patterns
- Experience working with large, complex, unstructured, or geospatial datasets
- Exposure to AI, NLP, or advanced analytics workloads in cloud-native environments
- Strong grounding in security, governance, and access control design
- Ability to create clear architecture diagrams, cost models, and senior-level recommendations
- Bonus points for public sector experience, Power BI integration, or SQL Server migration work
