A fast-growing cyber security SaaS business is looking for a Head of Engineering to lead its technical function through the next stage of growth. This is a key leadership role with real influence across people, process, product delivery and long-term technical direction.
Role Overview:
- Location: Central Leeds, Hybrid. 2-3 days per week in the office.
- Package: £65,000–£75,000 + benefits
- Industry: Cyber Security/SAAS
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Lead and grow an engineering team responsible for building, maintaining and improving a high-performing SaaS platform.
- Shape the technical direction of the business as it scales, ensuring the right processes, tools and standards are in place.
- Drive software delivery across the full stack, from front-end applications through to infrastructure and cloud services.
- Improve performance, reliability and quality across the platform.
- Build a collaborative engineering culture with strong practices around pairing, code reviews and design reviews.
- Work closely with teams across the wider business to deliver products and features that create real customer value.
- Develop and mentor engineers, providing regular feedback and creating opportunities for growth.
- Introduce and embed AI into engineering workflows to improve productivity and delivery.
- Oversee technical integrations following acquisitions and help unify different systems and technologies.
- Create and maintain an effective, scalable software development lifecycle built around agile ways of working.
Main Skills Needed:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role with responsibility for people, delivery and technical direction.
- Strong background as a Software Engineer before moving into leadership.
- Experience working with technologies such as .NET, React, NodeJS, Typescript, Linux, SQL Server and cloud infrastructure.
- Experience introducing AI into engineering teams or development processes.
- Strong knowledge of agile delivery methods and software development lifecycle best practice.
- Experience building technical strategies and providing architectural oversight.
- Strong understanding of modern cloud-based environments, particularly AWS and serverless technologies.
- Ability to lead across a broad technical stack including APIs, databases, front-end applications and infrastructure.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work closely across technical and non-technical teams.
- Previous experience in a scaling business or integrating acquired systems would be highly beneficial.
