A high-growth digital transformation consultancy operating across the UK Defence, MOD and wider Public Sector landscape is seeking a commercially driven Chief Revenue Officer to lead the next phase of growth. Working closely with the CEO and executive leadership team, this role is designed for a hands-on commercial leader who can operate effectively within fast-paced, entrepreneurial environments and has the credibility to engage senior stakeholders across Defence primes, government bodies and secure programmes.
The organisation already possesses:
- A board-backed growth strategy
- Established Defence & Public Sector client relationships
- Existing revenue streams and active delivery programmes
- A strong engineering and delivery capability
- A growing commercial function ready to scale
What is needed now is a commercially aggressive yet relationship-led CRO who can convert opportunity into revenue, build high-performing teams and establish the business as a go-to partner within the Defence & National Security ecosystem.
Due to immediate growth requirements, the organisation is open to both:
- An experienced interim/fixed-term leader who can deliver impact immediately
- A permanent strategic hire looking to build and scale a long-term function
Key Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of the commercial and revenue function, acting as a genuine hands-on leader rather than a purely strategic advisor
- Drive net new revenue growth across Defence, MOD and wider Public Sector accounts against agreed board targets
- Lead, mentor and develop the existing commercial team (currently 3 direct reports), while helping scale the function through the recruitment of 7–8 additional hires
- Leverage and convert established relationships across major Defence primes, government departments and secure programmes into tangible business wins
- Build a relationship-first sales culture centred around trust, delivery credibility and long-term partnerships rather than purely procurement-led selling
- Work closely with the CEO and CFO to shape commercial strategy, pipeline forecasting and growth planning
- Support expansion into new Defence and National Security accounts, frameworks and transformation programmes
- Represent the organisation credibly at executive, customer and partner level across the Defence community
Ideal Background
- Proven success driving revenue growth within consulting, professional services or digital transformation environments
- Strong exposure to Defence, MOD, National Security or wider Public Sector markets
- Existing network across Defence primes, government stakeholders or secure technology ecosystems highly desirable
- Experience operating within scaling or growth-stage businesses where pace, adaptability and ownership are essential
- Comfortable building commercial structure, process and capability from the ground up
- A genuine “builder mentality” — highly proactive, commercially sharp and willing to lead from the front
- Security clearable (SC/DV eligibility desirable; existing clearance advantageous but not essential)
- High-energy, low-ego leadership style with the ability to operate effectively alongside engineering, delivery and technical teams
- Open to ambitious “step-up” candidates with the right drive, credibility and growth mindset — not solely individuals who have already held the title multiple times
Why Join?
- Opportunity to shape and lead the commercial direction of a rapidly growing Defence & Public Sector transformation business
- Direct exposure to board-level strategy and decision making
- Ability to build and scale your own commercial function
- Strong autonomy, influence and progression potential
- Work alongside highly respected engineering and delivery leadership teams supporting critical UK programmes
