As Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading multiple software engineering teams, ensuring the successful delivery of high‑quality software products while fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. You will work closely with Product, Delivery, Architecture, and Business stakeholders to align technical delivery with strategic objectives, whilst mentoring and developing engineering talent across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop high‑performing software engineering teams across architecture, delivery, quality, and operational excellence.
- Manage the full software development life‑cycle, from planning and design through deployment and ongoing support.
- Drive engineering best practices across CI/CD, automated testing, security, observability, and agile delivery.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Delivery Leads, Architects, and business stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, coaching, mentoring and performance management activities.
- Establish and maintain engineering standards, governance and technical best practices.
- Contribute to technical strategy, platform evolution and long‑term engineering roadmap.
- Ensure delivery teams are equipped to build secure, scalable, resilient software solutions.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and knowledge sharing.
Qualifications and Experience
- Previous hands‑on software engineering background using technologies such as .NET, Java or Python.
- Proven experience leading and managing medium‑to‑large engineering teams (10–50 engineers).
- Strong understanding of modern software engineering principles and cloud‑native architectures.
- Experience delivering complex software platforms within regulated industries.
- Demonstrated success driving engineering transformation, delivery excellence and team growth.
- Strong knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, automation, testing strategies and operational monitoring.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
- Background within Insurance, FinTech, Banking or Financial Services.
- Experience leading distributed or multi‑disciplinary engineering teams.
- Exposure to platform modernisation, cloud migration or digital transformation programmes.
- Knowledge of security, compliance and governance requirements within regulated sectors.
