What You’ll Be Doing
- Designing, developing and maintaining modern software applications across secure environments
- Collaborating with engineers, architects and delivery teams to create scalable, high-quality solutions
- Developing robust backend services and APIs using a range of programming languages
- Working with containerisation technologies to support efficient deployment and consistent environments
- Contributing to CI/CD pipelines and automation to improve software delivery processes
- Applying software engineering best practices to produce clean, maintainable and well-documented code
- Participating in code reviews and technical discussions to drive continuous improvement
- Supporting technology selection decisions by evaluating tools, frameworks and development approaches
- Keeping up to date with emerging technologies and applying innovative thinking to technical challenges
Main Skills Needed
- Commercial experience in software engineering or a strong academic background in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline
- Strong knowledge of Git and collaborative software development practices
- Backend development experience using technologies such as Java, Python or Go
- Solid understanding of software engineering principles, algorithms and data structures
- Experience working with Docker and container-based development environments
- Knowledge of DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
- Understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS and/or Azure
- Exposure to Kubernetes or other container orchestration technologies
- Familiarity with Agile delivery environments and DevSecOps principles
- Knowledge of web application security best practices
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across technical teams
- Curious mindset with a willingness to learn new technologies and solve complex problems
- Exposure to Rust would be advantageous
