Introduction

This growing defence and security technology business is on a mission to tackle some of the most complex challenges in the sector. They’re now looking for a Business Development & Capture Manager to help drive growth, shape strategy, and secure key opportunities in a fast-moving market.

Role Overview:

  • Location: Hybrid (Cheltenham, 3-4 days onsite)
  • Package: Up to £80,000 + bonus + benefits
  • Industry: Defence, Security & Technology

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Lead the full business development and capture cycle, from identifying opportunities through to securing contracts.
  • Work closely with the Head of Business Development to shape and execute growth strategies.
  • Build strong relationships with customers and industry partners to increase win rates.
  • Develop and deliver compelling capture plans, business cases, and cost-effective solutions.
  • Collaborate across functions to ensure bids are competitive, sustainable, and resource-backed.
  • Act as Capture Manager on strategic opportunities, ensuring alignment across teams.
  • Contribute to pipeline reviews, proposal activity, and long-term market strategy.

Main Skills Needed:

  • Proven track record in business development and capture within defence, security, or government markets.
  • Strong background (5+ years) in selling complex solutions, systems, or services.
  • Ability to design and execute winning capture strategies.
  • Experience managing senior customer relationships and building partnerships.
  • Knowledge of industry best practice (e.g. Shipley capture training preferred).
  • Familiarity with defence/security customer environments and procurement processes.
