TechOps Engineer in London

• Contract | £400 per day

We’re partnering with a technology-led organisation to appoint an experienced Tech Ops Engineer to operate, stabilise and scale Azure-based production platforms.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on infrastructure or production operations specialist with strong experience across Microsoft Azure, RHEL and Java/Spring Boot microservices.

You’ll support business-critical platforms in a 24/7 environment, taking ownership of incident management, security remediation, CI/CD and automation.

The Opportunity

As Tech Ops Engineer, you’ll be responsible for the reliability, security and performance of complex UAT and production environments hosted on Azure.

You’ll act as a senior escalation point for L2 and L3 incidents, diagnosing issues across infrastructure, applications and middleware while driving root-cause analysis and permanent resolutions.

This is a highly technical role requiring strong production operations experience, confident incident leadership and the ability to improve platform reliability through automation and effective CI/CD practices.

Key Responsibilities

You’ll play a key role in maintaining secure, resilient and scalable production platforms by:

• Building and supporting UAT and production environments within Microsoft Azure.
• Performing hands-on RHEL administration, including hardening, patching, performance tuning and troubleshooting.
• Acting as an escalation point for L2 and L3 incidents.
• Leading root-cause analysis and implementing permanent fixes for recurring issues.
• Supporting Java and Spring Boot microservices in production environments.
• Diagnosing JVM issues relating to memory, garbage collection, threads and latency.
• Driving security vulnerability remediation across operating systems, middleware and cloud infrastructure.
• Collaborating with Security, SOC and NOC teams during incident response and post-incident reviews.
• Managing incidents, problems and changes through Jira Service Management.
• Maintaining operational runbooks, dashboards and technical documentation.
• Improving platform reliability through automation, scripting and CI/CD.
• Participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation.

About You

You’ll be an experienced Tech Ops, Infrastructure, SRE or Production Operations professional with a strong technical background and the ability to support complex, business-critical platforms.

You will also have

• At least eight years of experience within Tech Ops, Infrastructure, Site Reliability Engineering or Production Operations.
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services, including Virtual Machines, VNets, Network Security Groups, Load Balancers, Application Gateway, Azure Firewall, Bastion, Key Vault, Blob Storage, Redis and My SQL.
• Knowledge of Azure Front Door, Cloudflare, Layer 7 load balancing, TLS, VPNs and private endpoints.
• Advanced RHEL administration experience within enterprise production environments.
• Proven experience supporting Java and Spring Boot microservices and middleware in production.
• Strong knowledge of Nginx and technologies such as Dubbo, Nacos, Zoo Keeper, Kafka, Rabbit MQ, Active MQ and Redis.
• Advanced Elasticsearch experience, including cluster operations, indexing and performance tuning.
• Strong observability experience across the ELK Stack, Micrometer, Prometheus, Grafana, Azure Monitor and JVM monitoring.
• Experience with Jenkins, Git Lab, Git Hub Actions and Git-based delivery workflows.
• Strong scripting and automation skills using Python and Bash.
• Experience with Terraform and working knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes and Git Ops practices.
• Strong incident, problem and change management capabilities.
• Proven experience conducting root-cause analysis and implementing lasting resolutions.
• Familiarity with ITIL principles and service management practices.
• Experience using Jira Service Management and Confluence.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with technical, security and operational teams.
• The flexibility to support 24/7 operations and participate in an on-call rotation.
