What You’ll Be Doing:
- Designing and delivering scalable Power BI dashboards, reports and semantic models for enterprise use
- Building robust tabular models and optimising DAX to ensure performance at scale
- Transforming and modelling data using best practice approaches (star schemas, fact/dimension modelling)
- Creating intuitive, user-focused visualisations that drive engagement and adoption
- Working closely with data engineering teams to align reporting with warehouse design and upstream pipelines
- Diagnosing and resolving performance bottlenecks across models, refresh cycles and queries
- Embedding governance standards, including row-level security and data access controls
- Contributing to CI/CD processes, version control and structured release management
- Acting as a technical mentor for junior developers and supporting self-service users across the business
- Partnering with stakeholders to shape requirements into scalable, future-proof reporting solutions
Main Skills Needed:
- Advanced Power BI expertise (Power Query, DAX, tabular modelling, visual best practice)
- Strong data modelling knowledge, including star schemas and semantic layer design
- Solid SQL skills, with exposure to Python or similar tools advantageous
- Experience with Power BI Service administration (workspaces, pipelines, gateways, RLS)
- Familiarity with CI/CD, Git-based version control and automated testing approaches
- Understanding of Azure data technologies (e.g. Data Factory, Synapse, Data Lake) is beneficial
- Ability to translate business needs into clear technical solutions
- Confident communicator who can work effectively with both technical and non-technical teams
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a structured delivery environment
