The Mount Abraham Unified School District is seeking dedicated and reliable School Custodians to join our Facilities team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment for students, staff, and visitors. This position requires attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. We have full and part-time openings as well as on-call opportunities. The work schedule is Monday through Friday.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize classrooms, restrooms, offices, hallways, and common areas according to established schedules and standards.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, unclogging drains, and minor repairs.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and wax floors as needed.
- Empty trash and recycling bins and ensure proper disposal of waste.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and request replenishments as necessary.
- Assist with setup and teardown of furniture and equipment for school events and activities.
- Respond promptly to emergency cleaning needs.
- Report any maintenance or safety issues to the Director of Facilities and Grounds.
- Follow all health and safety regulations and protocols.
- May be requested to work overtime, another shift or location.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous custodial or janitorial experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment and perform minor maintenance tasks.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive tasks.
Working Conditions
- Work is performed both indoors and outdoors.
- Requires standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods.
- May involve exposure to cleaning chemicals and varying temperatures.
Salary Range
$22.46 - $26.95
