Location: Office Based, Thornton Cleveleys, Lancashire

The Role: An opportunity has arisen for an experienced EC&I Senior Designer to join Addison Project plc as part of an existing design team in our Head Office, Thornton-Cleveleys. Working with minimal supervision and on your own initiative you will join an established team delivering a range of projects within the manufacturing and process industries.

About you:

  • You must possess suitable and relevant qualifications within EC&I, minimum of an HNC preferably a Degree.
  • You must have experience in working to British and International Standards, Company Standards, Industry Regulations, EC Directives.
  • It would also be beneficial to have experience of CDM Regulations, Method Statements and Risk Assessments.
  • It is desirable that you have experience in completing site surveys to measure and investigate, determine equipment locations, cable routes, and liaise with client’s engineers.
  • You must have experience attending and representing at Project Meetings with a range of stakeholders.
  • It is essential that you have experience of electrical design with respect to MMC, LV distribution, lighting and earthing preferably within the Chemical, Petrochemical, and/or Oil and Gas industries.
  • Experience of dealing with and specifying instrumentation with respect to pressure, temperature, flow, level etc would also be desirable.
  • A good working knowledge of ATEX Directives for selection and installation of control and electrical equipment in Hazardous Areas would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of PLC and DCS control system I/O interfacing is also preferred.
  • You will be able to design and produce all types of drawings & documentation, including instrument loop and electrical circuit diagrams, installation/layout diagrams for cable route and equipment location, block cable diagrams, electrical distribution diagrams, Installation Scopes of Work, material & cable schedules and tender packages.
  • Able to produce designs using AutoCAD 2D with 3D being desirable.
  • You must also be familiar with the use of PC software packages including Microsoft Word, Excel and AMTECH for cable sizing & distribution system design etc.
  • An appreciation of cable calculations.
  • Able to guide, support and offer advice and guidance to less experienced members of the team.
