Location: Seaham, County Durham

Salary: £25,935.00 – £30,790.00 (dependent on qualifications and experience)

Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week)

Reports to: Team Manager

Clearance Required: Enhanced DBS

Contract Type: Permanent – subject to 3 months probationary period

Purpose of the Role

To provide high-quality wellbeing support to clients of Addictions North East through structured monthly 1:1 sessions and ongoing support planning using the Needs and Risk Assessment tool (NRA). The Wellbeing Coordinator will play a key role in helping clients maintain abstinence from drugs and alcohol, promoting recovery, resilience, and reintegration into the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver monthly 1:1 wellbeing sessions to clients in supported housing and outreach.
  • Conduct regular support planning using the NRA tool to monitor progress and set recovery and lifestyle goals.
  • Support clients in maintaining abstinence and building recovery capital.
  • Facilitate group sessions and brief interventions tailored to client needs.
  • Conduct assessments, screenings, and onward referrals to appropriate services.
  • Build therapeutic relationships with clients, fostering trust and motivation.
  • Promote peer support, self-determination, and community involvement.
  • Provide advocacy to help clients access health, housing, and social services.
  • Attend multi-agency meetings and contribute to integrated care planning.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement risk management plans.
  • Ensure safeguarding protocols are followed and concerns are reported appropriately.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection standards.
  • Work flexibly within the team to meet changing organisational needs.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of client interactions and outcomes.
  • Participate in supervision, training, and continuous professional development.
  • Support the development of Addictions North East’s wellbeing services and contribute to service improvement initiatives.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

  • Experience working with individuals in recovery or with complex needs.
  • Knowledge of addiction, mental health, and neurodiversity.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to deliver structured interventions and manage a caseload.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and professional boundaries.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and digital record-keeping systems.
  • Willingness to work flexibly, including occasional evenings/weekends.
  • Relevant qualification in Health & Social Care, Counselling, or similar, Level 3 or higher.
  • Full UK driving license.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience using recovery planning tools such as NRA.
  • Understanding of psychologically informed environments (PIE).
  • Experience in group facilitation and multi-agency working.
  • Where lived experience is applicable, should have a minimum of 5 years of sobriety.
