Adderstone Group is a privately owned property investment, development and regeneration business with a national portfolio of assets valued at approximately £200 million. Our work spans office, retail, leisure, logistics and residential sectors, and we take a long-term, hands‑on approach to the places we invest in and develop.

Adderstone Construction Limited is the Group’s principal construction contracting business, delivering complex refurbishment, retrofit and new‑build projects across commercial, residential and logistics‑led environments. With significant plans for future growth, we have a strong pipeline of work in and around Newcastle and further afield.

We’re seeking an ambitious and motivated undergraduate studying Construction Management, Project Management, Building Surveying or a related discipline, who is looking to undertake a placement year as part of their degree. You’ll be organised, commercially aware and keen to learn in a live construction environment. Given the nature of our projects, you should be detail‑oriented, proactive and confident communicating with a wide range of stakeholders from subcontractors and suppliers to senior leaders. More than anything, we’re looking for someone who wants genuine responsibility and exposure. You’ll be keen to understand how technically complex projects are delivered and how commercial and operational decisions directly influence programme, cost and quality outcomes.

This is an opportunity to gain real‑life experience on large‑scale, technically demanding projects across the region. You won’t be confined to observation, you’ll be embedded within live projects and commercial processes, working closely with experienced site managers, quantity surveyors and senior stakeholders across the business. You’ll have direct contact with our Construction Division Director, giving you insight into how strategic decisions are made at senior level. Most importantly, you’ll see the tangible impact of your work. Culture matters to us, and we aim to create an environment where people feel trusted, valued and involved.

The role will involve a wide range of construction-related duties, including:

  • Preparing sub‑contract packages for competitive tender enquiries and evaluating returned tenders
  • Preparing building material schedules for competitive tender and reviewing supplier submissions
  • Liaising with site managers to ensure materials are scheduled and ordered in line with programme requirements
  • Assisting the Director and projects team in checking sub‑contract invoices
  • Attending pre‑start meetings with sub‑contractors to review programme and site requirements
  • Ensuring all current drawings are filed electronically and in hard copy, and that revisions are issued to site teams
  • Liaising with builders’ merchants to order materials and plant, including PPE
  • Assisting in collating cost information to support the preparation of final account statements
