The Role
We are looking to add a highly experienced and impactful colleague to drive the transformation of Addepar’s Production Engineering and SRE team. This role focuses on evolving our platform towards enabling high-level declarative infrastructure orchestration and operations. The platform integrates Compute, Network, and Storage control planes, enabling development of efficient, fast-to-iterate services that abstract underlying infrastructure for various product areas.
The ideal candidate will play a lead, strategic role in implementing, maintaining, and evolving Addepar’s Production Infrastructure. You will bring a strong combination of innovative solutions leadership and extensive hands-on experience in AWS/cloud, Linux/Unix, networking, scripting, containerization, Kubernetes, Terraform, security, debugging, and monitoring. Responsibilities include designing, deploying, automating, and optimizing operational aspects of the platform focusing on reliability, scalability, and efficiency.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the design, implementation, and operation of container infrastructure using Kubernetes, ensuring high availability, performance, and security.
- Build and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines with tools like Jenkins, ArgoCD, AWS CodeBuild, GitHub Actions, establishing deployment best practices.
- Promote Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles using Terraform, focusing on scaling, cost optimization, and operational efficiency.
- Develop application-level knowledge to inform infrastructure requirements, including dashboards for cost, performance, and capacity management.
- Perform advanced monitoring and troubleshooting, driving root cause analysis and preventative measures.
- Collaborate across teams to resolve complex infrastructure issues, serving as a technical expert.
- Serve as a primary on-call responder for critical incidents, demonstrating problem-solving skills under pressure and contributing to system resilience improvements.
Who You Are
- Extensive experience in SRE/DevOps/Systems Engineering, with increasing responsibility.
- Expertise in Cloud Infrastructure (preferably AWS), including networking, security, and managed services.
- Strong programming/scripting skills in Python, Bash, Linux tools; Java is a plus.
- Deep knowledge of UNIX/BSD/Linux internals, performance tuning, debugging, and system administration.
- Containerization expertise with Kubernetes, including cluster management and deployment strategies.
- Experience leading initiatives with Terraform in complex environments.
- Proficiency with monitoring and logging tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Sentry, AWS native tools.
- Excellent communication skills for collaboration and articulating technical concepts.
- Contributions to open-source projects or automation tooling are a plus.
- Financial industry experience is beneficial.
