An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Learning & Development Manager to join a well-established, market-leading manufacturing business operating across multiple UK sites. This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership role within a fast-paced production environment, offering genuine autonomy, long-term progression, and the opportunity to make a real impact on workforce development and site performance. Location: Coupar Angus – Fully Onsite
Package: Up to £47,000 DOE + Excellent Benefits + Training + Career Progression
Hours: Monday to Friday | 40 Hours per Week | Flexible Start Times Available
The Role
As Learning & Development Manager, you will take ownership of all training and development activities across a large operational site. You will work closely with employees at all levels, from new starters through to senior leadership, ensuring colleagues are trained, compliant, engaged, and equipped for future growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver site-wide learning and development initiatives
- Manage and support a team of trainers, coaches, and assessors
- Deliver engaging onboarding and induction programmes for new starters
- Ensure all mandatory training, compliance, and operational standards are met
- Support and coordinate food safety, health & safety, and legal compliance training including HACCP/TACCP
- Deliver management and leadership development programmes
- Oversee apprenticeships, vocational qualifications, and workforce development pathways
- Liaise with external training providers, colleges, and awarding bodies
- Source, coordinate, and manage external training courses and development programmes
- Track learner progress, training completion, and maintain accurate records
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across operational teams
About You
We’re looking for an energetic, visible, and hands-on Learning & Development professional who enjoys being on the shop floor and actively engaging with teams. You will be confident delivering training at all levels and passionate about developing people in practical, fast-paced environments.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience in a Learning & Development Manager, Training Manager, or similar role
- Background in Manufacturing, FMCG, engineering, production, or another operational environment
- Experience managing and developing training teams
- Strong knowledge of compliance-based training and workforce development
- Experience with apprenticeships, vocational qualifications, or competency frameworks
- Excellent communication, coaching, and stakeholder management skills
- Relevant Learning & Development, Leadership, Management, or CIPD qualifications would be advantageous
