Responsibilities
- Reporting: Assisting the team by preparing accurate and timely cost and value reports at both project and business level for the SQS areas of responsibility. Ensure accurate cash flow reporting takes place and is optimised. Carry out cost management including forecasting and reporting this against actual performance. Update the monthly CTC / CVR, cost and commercial plans and have accountability, along with the project team for the commercial performance and strategy. Report on the issuing and status of Applications, CENS, EWNs, quotations, claims disputes etc to give a regular dashboard to the business of the commercial health of the project.
- Processes: Ensure that commercial processes are adhered to and optimised across the project contract and internally. Actively contribute to improvement of processes and procedures.
- Customer relationship: Ensure that any main contracts entered have terms and conditions that are appropriate for ADComms, with commercial risks identified and mitigated as appropriate. Ensure that the supply chain is engaged early and appropriately with the correct contract terms and conditions and process to deliver the best value to ADComms. Ensure that good client relationships are fostered at all times, including when delivering difficult news and when commercial opinions are not aligned. Be responsible for subcontract letting, negotiation and financial accounting and overseeing other procurement and timely assessment of SC liabilities and payment of SC's including consultants.
- Internal relationships: Effectively assist in managing the commercial team, including commercial support staff and supervision and mentoring junior quantity surveyors. Ensure effective interaction between the commercial team, finance team, procurement team, design and engineering teams and the operational site teams. Reach out to colleagues on other projects to collaborate in sharing ideas and knowledge to maximise synergies across the business.
Key measures and targets: Accurately and timely monthly valuations (and final account), timely management of change internally and externally, timely identification and submission of EWNs and CENS, timely responses and quotation of CEs (variations and claims), accurate and timely forecasting, accurate and timely add and railway method of re-measurement (RMM) to the contract, timely assessment and management of rolling final account and status of share or financial risks. Ability to positively challenge project delivery resources, methodology and costs and maintain deadlines in line with monthly commercial calendar.
