ADComms are installing a new first of its kind Digital OPO CCTV System with the London Underground environment as part of the DTUP (Deep Tube Upgrade Programme). The Engineer must be skilled in installation, test, and commissioning of either Track to Train Leaky Feeder Radio systems or OPO CCTV systems in metro environments and have a working understanding of basic switched networks, IP addressing schemes and the testing of fibre optic connectivity. The Engineer should equally be prepared to work in either multiskilled teams or across technologies not normally their main field of expertise once familiarity has been provided or gained through working experience.
The Engineer could be required to work on the initial development of testing to test the system in the test lab at the ADC offices in Coulsdon, on site at the rolling stock companies Lab and Test Track in Germany or on site at any of the installed systems site locations. The role may also require the Engineer to be the responsible person accepting equipment installed by the final installation of hardware and cabling into cabinets, camera housings and within the leaky feeder infrastructure of which may then require verification testing of these cable installations, installed by others.
Responsibilities:
- To act as the responsible person verifying installations installed by others are acceptable for test and commissioning to commence.
- To install any missing hardware into site cabinets and complete the cabinet installation ITPs.
- To undertake the final installations and terminations of communication cables and undertake the testing of these cables installed by others.
- To support the writing of test and commissioning plans in accordance with the test strategy and Client standards and as instructed by the Lead Test and Commissioning Engineers or Test and Commissioning Manager.
- To implement site test and commissioning plans ensuring all relevant data is recorded and test reports submitted in a timely manner.
- To carry out fault finding, and respective rectification works, where possible, to keep commissioning on programme.
- To support and promote the mentoring of others within the team and encourage a positive working attitude to individual and all team works.
- To ensure all work is carried out in accordance with Alan Dick procedures and quality standards.
- To ensure all safety procedures are in place and adhered to and safety equipment and PPE is used.
- Ensure that the work area is kept tidy and free from debris and site reports are maintained and submitted at the end of each shift.
- To liaise with the Lead T&C Engineers or T&C Manager to ensure work is carried out as required.
- To ensure that all test equipment used is within Calibration and highlight units that are out of date.
- Undertake any mandatory courses required to support the activities detailed above.
- Maintain and promote a positive working attitude within your individual work and in all team works.
Education Requirements:
- Must have an up-to-date Sentinel and WSSI cert as a minimum.
- Relevant Radio and RF technology or OPO CCTV installation and test skills or background.
- CCNA or similar understanding of switched networks, IP address schemes and testing thereof.
- Background in testing optical cable infrastructures.
- Experience in carrying out fault finding activities.
