A leading construction contractor with a national presence is looking for an established Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their team, working on recession-proof infrastructure contracts. This business works to build and maintain the UK's power infrastructure, which includes overhead lines and cabling in the ground, as well as substations and battery storage facility construction with associated civils works. This side of the market is recession-proof and also market-leading in terms of salaries for experienced individuals with this skillset in utilities. This is an ideal opportunity for someone working towards their degree on day release or recently graduated with a few years of industry experience. This business has a proven ability to train and promote junior level surveyors from within.

As Assistant Quantity Surveyor, your responsibilities will include:

  • Pre-contract supply chain management.
  • Production and agreement of monthly client applications for payment.
  • Supporting the production of monthly cost and value reports.
  • Supporting the production of monthly site cost and margin forecasts.
  • Subcontract procurement and production of subcontracts.
  • Administer subcontracts and payment processes.
  • Supporting the identification and management of contract change process and procedures.
  • Close liaison with, and provision of assistance to all operational and support staff to enable overall effective management of a project.

Ideally, you have at least one year of industry experience at Trainee or Assistant Quantity Surveyor level. You will have recently graduated with your degree or will be working towards this qualification on day release. This is a business that will support with APC chartership.

Skills & Knowledge Requirements:

  • Experience in a similar role.
  • Preferably degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or other relevant business discipline.
  • Non-degree holders should have a demonstrable record of success with extensive experience in similar roles.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent numeracy skills.
  • Use of Microsoft Office applications – high level knowledge of Excel.
  • Confident and positive.
  • Committed and enthusiastic.
  • Accurate and timely provision of information.
  • UK Driving Licence.

A competitive basic salary which is negotiable between £30,000-£45,000 dependent on experience, plus company car/car allowance. 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays. Degree funding if needed. Full details are available on request.
