Principal Ecological Consultant Join ADAS, part of the RSK Group, as a Principal Ecologist on our Midlands team based in Wolverhampton.
This is a full‑time, permanent role that involves working closely with the Associate Director to deliver high‑quality ecological services across the Midlands.
Responsibilities Work with the Associate Director and the ecologist team to ensure high‑quality service delivery.
Strengthen the Mid‑Midlands team through training, development, support and advice.
Advise and coordinate all aspects of ecology relating to the project.
Manage projects from inception to finalisation.
Communicate with clients and provide solid technical advice.
Write technical reports including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, Ecological Impact Assessments, Mitigation Strategies, Biodiversity Management Plans, Habitat Regulations Assessments, Screening reports and protected species reports.
Provide technical review and approval of reports.
Contribute to the wider ADAS Environment teams, supporting best practice development.
Develop personal knowledge, skills and competencies through training opportunities and conferences offered to ADAS Environment ecologists.
Foster client relationships through successful delivery of tenders and projects.
Qualifications Graduate or 1st Degree level discipline or vocational qualification.
Associate Level CIEEM membership or above.
In‑depth knowledge of ecology, legislation, and survey techniques, preferably with large projects.
Excellent written communication skills and ability to produce accurate technical reports.
A proactive attitude to managing time, finding solutions and ensuring work is delivered on time.
A full driving licence, access to own vehicle and commutable to our office.
Desirable One protected species licence (Great Crested Newt, Hazel Dormouse or bats etc.).
Experience of bat data analysis.
A CSCS card.
Personal Track Safety (PTS) qualified.
Knowledge and experience of District Licensing for Great Crested Newts or holder of or named ecologist on mitigation licences.
