The Vacancy
ADAS, part of RSK Group, is seeking Principal Ecologists to join our Midlands team based in Wolverhampton on a full time, permanent basis to join their growing UK ecology team.
This role will work together with our Associate Director to ensure high-quality service is delivered to our clients in the Midlands areas.

As a Principal level Ecological Consultant, you’ll be responsible for :
- Working together with our Associate Director and our ecologist to ensure high-quality service is delivered to our clients
- Strengthening the team of ecologists in the Midlands with training, development, support and advice.
- Advising and helping coordinate all aspects of ecology relating to the project.
- Managing projects from inception to finalisation
- Talking to our clients and providing solid technical advice.
- Write technical reports including but not limited to, Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, Ecological Impact Assessments, Mitigation Strategies and Biodiversity Management Plans, Habitat Regulations Assessments Screening reports and protected species reports.
- Technical review and approval of reports.
- Contributing to the wider ADAS Environment teams, particularly to support and develop best practice in consultancy.
- Developing your own knowledge, skills and competencies through training opportunities and conferences offered to ADAS Environment ecologists.
- Fostering client relationships through successful delivery of tenders and projects.
You must have
- Graduate or 1st Degree level discipline or vocation qualification.
- Associate Level CIEEM membership or above.
- In-depth knowledge of ecology, legislation, and survey techniques, preferable with large projects.
- Excellent written communication skills and be able to produce accurate technical reports.
- A proactive attitude to managing your own time, finding solutions and ensuring that work is delivered on time and to the required standards.
- A full driving license, access to your own vehicle and be commutable to our office.
We’d be keen to know if you have (these are desirable, but not required) :
- One protected species license (Great Crested Newt, Hazel Dormouse or bats etc.).
- Experience of bat data analysis.
- A CSCS card
- Personal Track Safety (PTS) Qualified
- Knowledge and experience of District Licensing for Great Crested Newts or been a holder of or named ecologist on mitigation licenses.
