Start your ecology career with ADAS while helping protect British wildlife. We’re looking for an Assistant Ecological Consultant to join our growing ecology team, working across a variety of project locations based around Manchester. This role is ideal for those just starting their ecology careers who are looking to develop their skills and pursue a consultancy career. You’ll work closely with Senior and Principal Ecologists, supporting the delivery of projects while gaining increasing responsibility.

As an Assistant Ecological Consultant at ADAS, you will play a key role in delivering field surveys, preparing technical reports, and supporting project management across a diverse portfolio, including infrastructure and development projects.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Undertaking a range of ecological field surveys (including habitat and protected species surveys), supported by colleagues until able to do independently.
  • Collecting, analysing, and interpreting survey data to inform project outcomes.
  • Preparing and contributing to technical reports, such as PEAs, EcIAs and species-specific survey reports.
  • Supporting the coordination and delivery of projects, ensuring work is completed to programme and budget.
  • Liaising with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders under the guidance of senior staff.
  • Ensuring compliance with wildlife legislation, policy, and best practice guidance.
