ADAS, a member of the RSK Group, is looking to recruit a motivated and ambitious livestock systems specialist to join our well-established consultancy group. The role is primarily home-and-office hybrid and will be based in one of our offices in Bristol, Hereford, Aberystwyth, Porthmadog or Wolverhampton. You will work on a variety of projects across all our business sectors, mainly in Wales and the Borders, with opportunities to travel elsewhere across the UK. The position covers ruminant and poultry work, but focuses strongly on ruminant consultancy with farmers, government bodies and the supply chain.
Your responsibilities will include gathering information, drafting reports, visiting farms, and applying Welsh and UK agricultural policy and funding frameworks at a farm level. Preference will be given to applicants with several years of industry experience and competent Welsh communication skills.
Key Responsibilities- Preparation of high-quality written material and reports.
- Handling data and presenting information to clients and groups.
- Developing bid proposals for new livestock consultancy projects.
- Identifying business opportunities individually or as part of a team.
- Degree or a postgraduate qualification relevant to livestock, or a related science degree with relevant practical experience.
- Excellent report-writing skills using MS Word and data handling using MS Excel.
- Willingness and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Clear, concise verbal and written communication.
- Good computer literacy and proficiency in the full suite of Microsoft Office programmes.
- Full driving licence and own transport.
- Flexibility in the range of work undertaken.
- Understanding of livestock production systems in the UK.
- Broad appreciation of issues facing the UK livestock sector and future changes.
- Social media marketing and mobile application development skills for farm data management.
- Ability to communicate in Welsh (significant advantage).
- Good networking skills.
