We are seeking an Entomology Researcher to join our Crop Protection team, supporting the development and application of innovative, systems-based approaches to invertebrate management. The role will focus on ecological networks, novel monitoring approaches, and translating systems thinking into practical solutions for agriculture and land management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support development of novel approaches to agricultural entomological monitoring, including network-based approaches.
  • Apply systems approaches to invertebrate management in practical, real‑world contexts.
  • Support delivery of research and consultancy projects across the entomology and wider ADAS teams.
  • Contribute to current and future initiatives and proposal development.
  • Engage effectively with farmers, growers, and advisors to support knowledge exchange and adoption of new approaches.

What We Require

  • Background in ecology, entomology, or a related discipline.
  • Strong interest in systems approaches and ecological networks.
  • Experience or interest in novel monitoring methodologies.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work with a range of stakeholders, particularly farmers and agronomists.
  • Ability to translate complex science into practical applications.
  • MSc or PhD in a relevant subject e.g. applied entomology or ecology, and/or monitoring techniques.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Salary And Benefits

  • This is a permanent role based at ADAS Boxworth in Cambridgeshire. Other office‑based ADAS locations include ADAS Rosemaund in Herefordshire, ADAS Gleadthorpe in Nottinghamshire and ADAS High Mowthorpe in Yorkshire may be considered for the right candidate.
  • Salary range £30,000 to £38,000 per annum depending on experience.
