ADAS, part of RSK Group Ltd, are seeking to recruit a Crop Pathology Consultant on a full-time, permanent basis. The successful candidate will have a background in biological sciences, plant pathology, agriculture or agronomy and have experience in applied crop disease research. You will be looking to develop or continue your career in arable plant pathology and be open to generating and developing your own research ideas as well as delivering your own/colleagues research and consultancy projects.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage arable plant pathology projects requiring co-ordination between different ADAS teams. Deliver input into consultancy and research projects to a high standard. This will include all aspects of project management including liaising with host growers, updating project partners with interim reports/datasets, the training and management of project teams, data analysis/reporting/presentations and ensuring that all report deadlines and milestones are met.
  • Take original ideas and develop them into sound projects with the plant pathology team and others across ADAS for a range of clients.
  • Contribute to the sales process and develop strong links with current and new clients, representing ADAS and building the reputation of the plant pathology team.
  • Establish your profile and reputation within and outside of ADAS through clients, collaborators and the scientific community, presenting your research to colleagues and at external events/conferences.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Educated to degree level with relevant industry experience (MSc or PhD in crop pathology desirable). Excellent project management skills, with the ability to work across a range of internal groups and external organisations.
  • Clear presenting style and demonstrable skills in written and verbal communication.
  • Experience in the design and management of field research.

Salary and benefits:

  • Salary £30,000 – £35,000 per annum depending on experience.
