Management Accountant in London

Management Accountant in London

London Full-Time No working from home possible
A

Job description

We are looking for a commercially aware, hands-on Management Accountant to take ownership of our month end close and day-to-day operational finance across both our UK and US entities. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, you will be the engine of our finance operations, a safe pair of hands who gets into the detail, owns the process, and builds from a strong foundation.

We are looking for someone already operating confidently as a Management Accountant who is ready to own a function, as opposed to someone learning the ropes. In return, you will have real scope, genuine progression, and the chance to shape how finance scales at Adarga.

Month End Close & Controls

  • Own the UK and US month end close timetable, managing delivery to WD5 through close coordination with our outsourced accountants

  • Prepare and review journals, accruals and prepayments

  • Review outsourced bookkeeping outputs and drive timely corrections

  • Maintain audit-ready balance sheet reconciliations across all entities

  • Own inter-company reconciliations between UK and US entities

Operational Finance

  • Own the full procure-to-pay cycle end to end (AP processing, invoice approvals, expense tool administration and payments) with a view to bringing currently outsourced AP in-house in the UK, and potentially the US, as the finance function matures

  • Process sales invoices and manage all aspects of accounts receivable

  • Maintain the weekly cash flow forecast

Group Reporting & Consolidation

  • Support the group consolidation process and monthly reporting pack

  • Liaise with external accountants (UK and US) and our US-based finance team

Commercial Finance & Business Partnering

  • Support maintenance of the rolling forecast model and assist with the annual budget cycle, including departmental input and variance commentary

  • Act as the day-to-day point of contact for finance queries across the business — the face of the finance function for internal stakeholders on operational and transactional matters

  • Contribute to improving close workflows and reducing manual processes over time

Job requirements

Essential requirements

  • Already operating as a Management Accountant with 3-6 years of relevant finance experience

  • Fully qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or part-qualified and progressing

  • Has owned or run significant elements of a month end close, not just contributed to one

  • Comfortable getting into the detail. This is a hands-on role that spans the transactional and the technical

  • Strong Excel skills and a process-improvement mindset

  • Confident managing external providers and driving results through others

  • Comfortable in a high-growth, agile environment where pace and pragmatism matter

Desirable requirements

  • Experience spanning both UK and US entities

  • Familiarity with intercompany reconciliations and group consolidation

  • Experience supporting insourcing of previously outsourced finance functions

  • FP&A exposure

How to prepare for a job interview at Adarga

Know Your Numbers

As a Management Accountant, you need to be comfortable with financial data. Brush up on your month-end close processes and be ready to discuss how you've owned these in previous roles. Be specific about the challenges you faced and how you overcame them.

Excel Like a Pro

Strong Excel skills are a must for this role. Before your interview, practice using advanced functions and pivot tables. You might even want to prepare a quick example of how you've used Excel to improve a process or solve a problem in your past work.

Understand the Bigger Picture

This role involves liaising with both UK and US entities, so show that you understand the nuances of working across different financial regulations. Research any relevant differences and be prepared to discuss how you would manage inter-company reconciliations effectively.

Be Ready to Discuss Process Improvements

Adarga is looking for someone who can drive results and improve workflows. Think of specific examples where you've streamlined processes or reduced manual tasks in your previous roles. Highlight your process-improvement mindset and how it can benefit their finance function.
