We are currently looking for a Facilities Maintenance Technician in a 12 month contract in the Nort-West of London.
You will work as part of a team responsible for maintaining mission-critical equipment including liquid cooling, power distribution systems, generators, and UPS systems.
This role operates on a shift rotation supporting 24/7 data center operations.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on electrical and mechanical infrastructure systems
β’ Conduct routine plant inspections and equipment checks to ensure systems are operating correctly
β’ Monitor alarms and system performance using Building Management Systems (BMS) and other monitoring tools
β’ Assist with fault finding and troubleshooting across infrastructure systems including power distribution and cooling equipment
β’ Support operation and testing of critical systems including liquid cooling systems and cooling equipment, diesel generators, UPS systems, and switchgear.
β’ Supervise specialist vendors performing maintenance or repair activities on site
β’ Follow permit-to-work and safety procedures for all maintenance and operational activities
β’ Participate in incident response and support troubleshooting during infrastructure events
β’ Maintain accurate maintenance records and operational logs
β’ Support testing activities including generator tests and infrastructure failover exercises
A Typical Day may include:
β’ Performing daily plant inspections across mechanical and electrical infrastructure
β’ Monitoring alarms and system status through the Building Management System (BMS)
β’ Responding to infrastructure alerts and assisting with initial troubleshooting
β’ Carrying out planned preventative maintenance tasks on site equipment
β’ Supporting generator tests and infrastructure system checks
β’ Supervising vendors performing maintenance activities
β’ Completing shift logs, plant status reports and operational handovers
Basic Qualifications
β’ Experience working with mechanical and electrical infrastructure systems
β’ Hands-on experience performing maintenance, inspections or troubleshooting on plant equipment
β’ Knowledge of infrastructure systems such as:
o Liquid cooling systems β Primary area of expertise sought, followed by other cooling and mechanical systems.
o HVAC / cooling systems
o pumps, motors or industrial equipment
o power distribution equipment
o generators
o UPS systems
β’ Ability to follow operational procedures and safety standards
β’ Willingness to work in a shift-based environment supporting 24/7 operations
Preferred Qualifications
β’ Mechanical and electrical qualification (hands on apprenticeship, diploma or equivalent experience)
β’ Experience working in data centres, industrial facilities, manufacturing plants or critical environments
β’ Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) or similar monitoring systems
β’ Experience working with permit-to-work or safety management systems
β’ Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
