- Manage the day to the day activities of a high-functioning engineering team
- Liaise with key business stakeholders, identifying where additional value can be delivered incrementally over time within the owned subject area
- Take ambiguous needs from the business and turn these into technical tasks to be completed by the engineering team
- Be accountable for the successful daily execution of BAU Prod activity
- Work alongside other engineering team leads within the office of COO, contributing to the overall engineering and service strategy.
- Prioritise tasks and communicate these to team members
- Mentor, coach, and inspire the engineering team resources within the wider organization
- Support the creation of internal SOW and track them through to completion
- Support the team by owning and managing escalations
- Assist with Sprint ceremonies and management of the engineering teams backlog
- Explore new technologies to identify new patterns and trends
- Ensure that best practice is followed by the team and pay back technical debt
What we\’re looking for
- Advanced stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence key decision-makers
- Able to balance short-term tactical demands against long-term objectives, particularly the avoidance of creating technical debt
- Able to say ‘No’ in potentially challenging situations and manage issues
- Proven programming skills and ability to train others in Java. Combined with this, the experience of the common frameworks used within the programming languages ecosystem
- Significant experience with AWS and IaC and services such as Kinesis, S3, IAM, SQS, Lambda and S3
- Able to work on own initiative, self-motivated, and time efficiently
- Able to communicate technical solutions/issues to technical and non-technical staff and stakeholders
- Experience with streaming technologies
- Experience with Apache Airflow and Apache Flink
