Overview

We are looking for an Interim Chief People Officer to join an established organisation in Merseyside with ambitious growth plans. This is a hands-on strategic role suited to someone who thrives on transformation, cultural development, and driving meaningful change at pace. If you can step in, quickly assess priorities, implement a people strategy, and demonstrate measurable impact, there is a genuine opportunity for the role to become permanent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, refine and deliver the organisation's People Strategy to support business goals and future growth.
  • Drive strategic implementation across HR, talent, culture, engagement and organisational design.
  • Partner closely with the senior leadership team to influence and support key decisions.
  • Build credibility quickly and create strong relationships across the organisation.
  • Identify gaps, set priorities and roll out initiatives that improve capability, performance and engagement.
  • Oversee major people projects including culture development, leadership capability, workforce planning and change management.
  • Provide expert guidance on complex HR issues and ensure compliance with employment legislation.
  • Coach and develop leaders to strengthen performance and accountability.
  • Review the current People function and introduce best-practice systems, processes and approaches.

What We Are Looking For

  • Proven experience as a CPO or People Director within a fast-paced or transforming organisation.
  • A strong track record of delivering strategic change and creating visible, measurable impact.
  • Experience within regulated industries although not essential is highly desirable.
  • Someone who excels in strategic implementation as well as practical execution.
  • Confident, credible and able to influence at all levels.
  • Commercially minded and resilient, with the ability to navigate ambiguity.
  • Experience driving cultural change, organisational development and leadership capability.
  • Ability to quickly diagnose challenges and deliver outcome-focused solutions.
