The Buyer is responsible for sourcing materials, managing suppliers and stock, and ensuring accurate, cost-effective procurement to support production and group-wide purchasing objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver best-value sourcing through effective negotiation of bespoke and standard components
- Manage purchase orders and inventory via the MRP/ERP system to ensure uninterrupted supply
- Optimise stock levels and consumables to balance availability, cost, and working capital
- Maintain accurate procurement data, part numbers, and BOMs to support efficient production
- Resolve shopfloor procurement issues quickly to minimise disruption
- Build strong supplier relationships, managing cost, quality, delivery, and performance
- Identify, onboard, and review suppliers in line with ISO 9001 requirements
- Partner with production and group procurement teams to deliver and report measurable cost savings across the group
- Experience in purchasing or supply chain within a manufacturing environment
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
- Commercially focused, with a track record in cost reduction
- Confident using MRP/ERP systems and Excel
- Analytical and detail-driven, with strong stock control capability
- Solid understanding of supply planning, lead times, and inventory optimisation
- Technically minded, able to interpret drawings and Bill of Materials
- Clear, confident communicator who can challenge constructively
- Up to GBP38k base salary depending on experience
